bres10x50Bresser 10x50 Binocular - Only £24.99

A great compact rubber armoured binocular
Don't be fooled by the super-low price. Top-quality BaK 4 optics (Bresser is part of Meade Instruments) and solid, reliable mechanics make this binocular a stunning bargain.
These binoculars are a great general use (birding, hiking etc) size and are regarded as the perfect size for astronomy - with an efficient "light gathering" relationship between magnification and aperture, the 10x50 size will deliver stunning astro-image brightness and stellar magnitude penetration (you'll see more stars!) than binoculars with a higher magnification to aperture ratio. The 10x50 binoculars feature long eye relief and soft rubber fold-down eyecups making these binoculars ideal for spectacle wearers.

The Bresser 10x50 is a serious binocular for the astronomer: all lenses and prisms are super clear BaK-4 glass with all glass surfaces fully anti-reflection coated. The rugged rubber armoured cast-alloy metal body has a comfortable high quality feel and features a tripod fitting bush (again, making this binocular ideal for astronomy).

celes15x70Celestron SkyMaster 15x70 Binoculars
£85.00

Celestrons SkyMaster Series of large aperture binoculars are a phenomenal value for high performance binoculars ideal for astronomical viewing or for terrestrial (land) use - especially over long distances. Each SkyMaster model features high quality BAK-4 prisms and multi-coated optics for enhanced contrast.

Celestron has designed and engineered the larger SkyMaster models to meet the special demands of extended astronomical or terrestrial viewing sessions.

The 15x70 version is one of the most popular models in the series. It offers serious large aperture light gathering in an affordable and reasonably lightweight configuration. The best available binocular for astronomical use that is light enough for hand holding, and still having a larger aperture. Easily tripod mounted for astro or terrestrial use. As a terrestrial binocular, it excels in low light. For birding at dawn or dusk, and for wader or gull roosts, this binocular removes the need for a spotting scope. The magnification is high enough to resolve detail and for species recognition in poor light, whilst retaining a bright image. An exit pupil of 4.67mm is ideal for this purpose. This binocular is lightweight enough to hand hold for this purpose, or can be mounted on any popular birding tripod.

"The six-day-old Moon was a wonderful view and it was a pleasure looking at the crisp detail of the craters near the terminator. There was no internal ghosting while viewing such a bright object" (Stellar 15x70 model)
BBC Sky at Night Magazine

"The large star cloud M24 was beautiful and fitted in the view perfectly. The sharpness and quality of the inner field of view was also evident when we turned to our test double stars of Albireo and Mizar. Albireo was a wonderful orange-yellow primary, while its sky blue companion was easily separated. Mizar was cleanly split and the fainter companion could be clearly seen, The Moon had a wealth of detail along the terminator with only a small amount of colour fringing around its bright limb, while Jupiter could be seen as a bright disc with a hint of the belts; we even glimpsed the Galilean moons, sharply defined either side of the planet. Nebulae, globular clusters and galaxies also stood out well, showing that these binoculars could also give pleasing views of deep space." (Stellar 20x80 model)

“Extends to an impressive height…The tripod remains stable even when extended, due to a bracket that locked the legs into place…We especially liked the way in which the adaptor plate was fitted into the mount, which is held in place by a sprung locking mechanism. Telescopes are expensive, so it’s worth making sure they are securely attached.”BBC Sky At Night Magazine
