The equatorial wedge is essential for long exposure astrophotography. The wedge allows you to tilt the telescope so that its polar axis (R.A. axis) is parallel to the earth`s axis. The angle of tilt will depend on your latitude when the telescope is level. The angle between the horizon level and the polar axis will equal your latitude when the telescope`s axis is parallel with that of the Earth`s. Once properly mounted and adjusted on the wedge, the telescope is equatorially mounted and it can now track objects as they move across the sky.

We offer two densities of AstroSolar™, as Solar photographers have always criticised that the visual density of D=5 would be too dark for eyepiece projection work. Accordingly brighter "AstroSolar™ Photo Film" with density D= 3.8, provides shorter exposure times when using eyepiece projection.
Canon Digital SLR cameras are amongst the most popular cameras used for astro-imaging, being very sensitive and have a very high resolutions. The cameras have one drawback for astro-imaging . . . The original IR cut filter installed has poor transmission in the important red H-Alpha line. Many gas nebulae with H-2 regions are consequently difficult to photograph with a standard camera. Baader have made an IR cut filter that replaces the standard Canon filter. The filter has nearly full transmission in the H-Alpha line. This eliminates the cameras' only major disadvantage.
These are simple, but high quality, plain glass filters suitable for the beginner or enthusiast at a great price. The IR block filter must always be used in combination with the colour filters as the individual colour filters are not IR blocking, (unlike Astronomik's LRGB filterset. Used for making colour composites with a monochrome CCD camera.
This filter is a good choice for those who using large/faster achromats and also reduces the effects of Sodium light pollution. For users of Achromatic telescopes this filter enhances contrast, making objects appear sharper, brighter and clearer. It does this by reducing the violet & blue secondary spectrum often seen with achromats. Useful is for the observation of Planets, particularly Mars and Jupiter.
Excellent filter for cutting off the infrared and ultraviolet part of the spectrum. Band Pass is 420nm-680nm
The Baader U Filter is now the filter of choice for imagers exploring the UV world of Astro, landscape, floral, and even forensic imaging. Now with even higher transmission and much improved out of band (IR) blocking and consists of a 20 layer dielectric coating stack on a special optically polished substrate. The Baader Venus Filter enables amateurs to successfully image in the deep UV from 300nm to 400nm. Peak transmission of 80% and completely blocks the rest of the spectrum from 200nm to 1500nm. Used to record cloud structures on Venus, the Solar Calcium K-Line is also within the passband of this filter.
The BAADER Fringe-Killer Filter minimizes unwanted blue fringing, comparable to a Minus-Violet-Filter, while retaining a very pleasing color balance. This would be a contradiction in itself – only made possible by applying modern DWDM plasma assisted coating technology, allowing almost a hundred coating layers to be accumulated onto a planoptically polished substrate – without destroying the optical figure! This fineoptical tool will help a small refractor to really put the advertized magnification within reach. Performance rivals that of the most expensive color correcting lens systems, costing 20 times as much!
CCD imagers will find Baader's Narrowband 7nm H-Alpha passfilter to deliver the absolute highest contrast deep sky images of H-II regions, with the shortest exposures possible. Its narrow 7nm FWHM bandwidth has a transmission at H-Alpha of over 90%, while completely rejecting light pollution. The high optical quality of the Baader 7nm H-Alpha filter guarantees no loss in sharpness or contrast. Each substrate is fine-optically polished plane parallel to deliver a smooth and accurate 1/4 wavefront over the entire surface.
The New 35nm Ha Filter from Baader is ideal for imaging the broader Ha regions on distended objects even during full Moon. It is also usefull for imaging high contrast H-II regions in galaxies like M33 for example. A usefull filter particularly well suited to the slightly less sensitive Interline and similar CCD imagers that exist today.
The Baader OIII filter offers high contrast views of diffuse and planetary nebula, especially under extremely light polluted skies. The Baader OIII filter is one of the narrowest transmission band OIII filters on the market making it particularly well suited to CCD imaging thanks to its unsurpassed contrast. One of the narrowest transmission band OIII filters on the market
SII filter for narrowband imaging.
The Baader Planetarium UHC-S Nebula filter excels at delivering a high-contrast and natural view of emission nebula without excessive dimming and loss of background star fields. The perfect filter for viewing emission nebula from light polluted skies, or for boosting the contrast of nebula from dark sky sites. The advanced technology coatings enable the filter to achieve an outstanding transmission of over 97% across the entire passband, with total blockage of prominent light pollution lines. This translates to maximum image brightness and contrast. Owners of 4"-10" telescopes will especially appreciate the high efficiency, and larger scope users will love the rich star fields and detailed subtle nebular shadings that are left intact Go to Accessories Page 1, 2. |
