skywatcherevostar80eddsproEvostar ED80 DS Pro Series OTA
£495.00

The new EVOSTAR DS-PRO Series ED Apochromatic refractors in their stunning Black-Diamond livery, house premium optics of the same quality and performance level as our now legendary Equinox series, making them superb instruments for both imaging and visual observations.

Apochromatic Refractors, due to their unobstructed, text-book like diffraction patterns, produce the sharpest, highest quality optical imaging available, bar-none, aperture for aperture, of any telescope optical system.

These high-end telescopes all feature a doublet objective lens. One element is made from premium Japanese Ohara FPL-53 Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass, which virtually eliminates chromatic aberration to deliver true colour reproduction. Top quality Schott glass is utilized for the Crown element.
Each air-to-glass lens surface has exotic anti-reflection metallic coatings applied, to ensure optimum light through-put of approaching 99.5%!!
The proprietary Sky-Watcher “Metallic High-Transmission Coatings” (MHC) are the finest photon anti-rejection coatings in their class.

Equinox80proEquinox 80 Pro OTA - £575.00

F/500 FLUORITE ED APOCHROMATIC REFRACTOR TELESCOPE

The Equinox 80 is another excellent choice for birding, nature study, and photography. Its fast, high-contrast optics and generous field of view make it an ideal instrument for studying larger clusters and star fields, and it is a proven performer for astrophotography – you can even use it with a common SCT focal reducer to achieve speeds down to f/4.5! But don’t be afraid to push up the magnification, too. Its crisp optics make it a strong performer on tight double stars, and it provides crisp, clear lunar and planetary images with no image breakdown, even at high powers. D = 80 mm, fast, flat f/6.2, F = 500.

“We took five, two-minute exposures of the Pleiades & Andromeda galaxy which were then stacked and image-enhanced using K3CCD tools. They gave a tremendous amount of detail – in fact they were the best images of these objects I have ever taken…”The view was pin-sharp across 85 percent with the 20mm lens and there was no apparent colour fringing at all around the stars”…Overall the refractor performed well on all tasks. It would make a top quality addition to any astronomers scope collection!

F/900 FLUORITE ED APOCHROMATIC REFRACTOR TELESCOPE

The Equinox 120 is the star of the Equinox Series. Its generous aperture makes it an ideal observing instrument for solar system and deep space objects alike – and it really shines on double stars. For astrophotography, the Equinox 120 features an f/7.5 focal ratio – more than speedy enough for today’s sensitive CCDs and digital SLR cameras. Plus, it can be coupled with a common SCT focal reducer to achieve even faster speeds. D = 120 mm,  F = 900, f/7.5.

Equinox120proEquinox 120 Pro OTA - £1390.00

F/900 FLUORITE ED APOCHROMATIC REFRACTOR TELESCOPE

The Equinox 100 departs slightly from the other refractors in this series. It is designed primarily as a visual instrument for high-power, high-resolution applications. The Equinox 100 features a beautifully corrected ED doublet with a focal length of 900 mm. It provides outstanding views of solar system objects and of brighter DSOs, and can split even the tightest doubles with ease. For added fun, attach a video camera along with our 2” ED 2x Barlow and treat yourself to stunning real-time views of earth’s nearest neighbors! D = 100 mm, F = 900.

winner"The Equinox uses the same optics as the well-regarded Sky-Watcher Evostar-120ED PRO …The tube is finished in a classy gloss black, trimmed in silver with an extendable dewshield…The bright star Vega showed no false colour...The planet Jupiter had no colour issues either, although it showed red and blue colour at the top and bottom of its disc due to refraction in the atmosphere. This was nothing to do with the telescope’s optics and once we’d removed this atmospheric refraction with a green filter, Jupiter showed an amazing amount of detail given its low altitude. On a night of near-perfect seeing, Vega, almost overhead, showed the Equinox’s optical correction to be essentially perfect. Our views of the Double Double were the best we have ever seen, with clear separation between each close pair. Views of the Alpine Valley on the 20-day-old Moon were also stunning. We couldn’t have asked for more. With the best focuser of the four, a beautiful tube and essentially flawless optics, we found the it’s performance simply stunning, and all for a price that would have been unbelievable only a few years ago."

quatroQuattro 8S - £425 & 8CF - £625.00

205MM F/4 DUAL-SPEED PARABOLIC IMAGING NEWTONIANS

The new QUATTRO series with their fast f/4 focal ratios, have been specially designed for high quality astrophotography with short exposure times. They are of course also fine telescopes for visual observations.

Two versions of the QUATTRO-8 OTA's are available:

QUATTRO-8S with Steel Tube

QUATTRO-8CF with Carbon Fibre Tube (illustrated)

CARBON FIBRE TUBE (QUATTRO-8CF only): Carbon fibre is a strong and lightweight material and has much better thermal stability compared to a steel tube. This is especially important for astro-photographers dealing with long exposure times. Imaging telescopes made of less thermally stable material can deviate from optimum focus after long time exposures. With a carbon fibre tube, it can remain in focus for a longer period of time and long exposure images will stay clear and in focus.

2" DUAL-SPEED LINEAR POWER FOCUSER (both models): The new linear power focuser utilises 4 precision ball bearings to support the drawtube and provide great stability and zero image shift while supporting a heavy eyepiece or camera. Moving the drawtubeby the roller rather than a rack and pinion ensures exceptionally smooth operation, great feel and precise adjustability. The dual-speed feature has a second focus knob that has a 10:1 speed reduction to provide the super-fine adjustments even the most demanding users can appreciate.

PYREX MIRRORS: Both models feature paraboloidal primary mirrors made of low thermal expansion Pyrex glass resulting in substantially shorter cooling-down times.

Standard Specification:

  • Highest Practical Power (Potential) x410
  • Diameter of Primary Mirror 205mm
  • Telescope Focal Length 800mm (f/4)
  • Note: Eyepieces NOT supplied
  • 9x50 Finderscope
  • Parabolic Primary Mirror (Pyrex)
  • 2" (50.8mm) Dual-Speed 10:1 Linear Power Focuser
  • Tube Rings & Dovetail Bar
  • 0.5mm Ultra-Thin Secondary Mirror Supports
  • 77% more Light-Gathering than 150mm
